On back 9 Photo submitted by Lsj021 on 11/18/2012
Brutally slow
Course is really fun with holes through and around the old quarry. But it was brutally slow (almost 5 hours) because they put too many people on the course jammed together at 7 and 8 minute intervals.
Poor Course Management
This is at least my fourth time playing this course this year and the pace of play is always atrocious; waiting on every hole, groups backed up on the 11th tee and the second time I didn’t get to play all 18 after paying full price. Today’s round was the worst; teed off at 1:45 and only got to play 16 holes. I asked the starter if there was a ranger out on the course helping to move groups along and he said “yes, we’re on top of it”. I never saw a ranger and waited at least 5 minutes on every tee. If they are going to charge $64 or more per round, they should be better managing pace of play; they are not. My recommendation is to stay away. I will not be going back until I learn they are better managing the course. The staff are amateurs at best and really don’t understand how to manage a golf course. There are plenty of other good courses in Tucson, do yourself a favor and avoid this one.
Fun course
Quite the course! Amazing job designing the holes around and through the quarry on the back nine. Hard to believe, but I would even call the course conditions “lush”. A desert course! Would like to play it again..
Excellent back nine, wonderful layout a Scottsdale course at a Mess price, friendly staff, bring your camera for the Quarry nine views
Panoramic views
Not for the faint of heart! Quarry Pines is a challenge! We waited on every hole, anticipate a five hour round when booking. Play is slow, especially on the back nine where the most experienced golfer can get into trouble. Our tee time was 2:15 pm, we managed to get in 15 holes before dark. We enjoyed the scenic views, undulating greens, rolling fairways and the staff were friendly. We will return but will book an earlier tee time.
Great Course! Back 9 is Challenging with Spectacular views.
This course has some great holes
The course was in good shape. It is very tight off the tee with lots of OB. The back nine holes play through the quarry and are very interesting. The course is not long but it is still very challenging. My only complaint is there is no driving range to warm up.
Enjoy the Unique Beauty of this Course
This course had some very unique holes. It is pretty, but unless you can put the ball right where it needs to land, golf will be a challenge.
A number of holes require 100+ yard carry to hit the fairway or green. If you miss the spot, your ball is gone, down into the quarry.
Overall the day was fun. To keep of pace going there were many times you just drop your ball near a partner's to move the game a long.
More skilled golfers will enjoy this course more than the average player.
Fun course!
Quarry pines is such a fun course to play and is in very good condition.
Great condition
Can be slow when groups ahead of you insisting on hitting multiple balls into the abyss
