When players want to remember how fun golf in the desert used to be, they head to Estrella Mountain Golf Course. Opened in 1962, Estrella is a traditional parkland course that does not try to beat anyone up. You'll be shooting from green fairways rather than out of gnarly desert rocks.
That doesn't mean that Estrella Mountain hasn't kept up with the times though. The course was completely renovated in 1998 and in 2000, Golf Digest declared it one of the five most improved golf courses in the country. Today, Estrella Mountain is known as one of best values in the entire golf-crazy Phoenix metropolitan area. Estrella starts with a long par 5 (544 yards) and finishes with a short uphill par 5 (472 yards) that gives you a good chance to decide your day's bets on a birdie.
